Publishing Equalities Charter

The Publishing Equalities Charter programme was launched at the London Book Fair in 2010. It draws its inspiration from the Equality Act 2010.

In November 2012, Equip launched the Publishing Equalities Charter – an initiative unique to the publishing industry. The Publishers Association and the Independent Publishers Guild took responsibility for EQUIP in 2014 with the aim of continuing to promote initiatives relating to equality and diversity of employment and skills, and actively engage with the EQUIP network

The Charter’s aim is to create a network of businesses with a commitment to equality and diversity in publishing. It is an opportunity to bring new ideas to the table and start dialogues across this industry.
